Bodybuilding World Volume 14 #2

Integrity is defined as "the quality of possessing and steadfastly adhering to high moral principles or professional standards".

I stumbled across this definition of "Integrity  the other day and it just spoke volumes to me. In fact, I read it four times in row. This is how we operate our business, communicate with clients, and design and manufacture Beverly products. There is no deviation from this kind of principle when you commit to it. The art of Integrity is a life / business style that never goes out of vogue. It is like the North Star to early explorers or a magnet to metal. It is our guiding principle. Exemplifying this definition of pure integrity makes us different from a lot of other companies in our industry. While exhibiting at the 2009 Arnold Expo, I realized that our Beverly Company is like "Nemo  in a dark sea infested with sharks. Even though we are all swimming in the same water, the design, make up, and integrity of our business physique is quite different. Things have changed quite a bit in the fitness industry over the past 2 decades. Sound the alarm We have not.

Hi Sandy!
Just wanted to say I saw you at the Arnold Fitness Classic in Columbus and it’s easy to find the Beverly booth; just look for the booth without the half-naked women. Most booths were staffed by models in spandex giving samples of who knows what. Not for me. I talked to Brian Wiefering at the Beverly booth and he is very knowledgeable.

I’ve been taking Glutamine Select since last year’s Arnold and UMP since last summer. This year I also picked up some Uplift. Tried it Saturday afternoon and really felt it during my workout. I was pumping chest and at the end of my normal workout I just wanted to keep going! What a powerful product.
Thanks for the great products and keep up the good work! Dave Schutz Columbus, Ohio

Rachel Wade & Tracy Methena
Here’s what Gold Clubber, Tracy Methena had to say after the Arnold Expo pump-n-run!

So I have been training all year, taking my Beverly Products, and working out. Running my butt off. I entered this year’s Arnold, for the 5K pump and run and the tender age of 48. The highlight of the event was slapping Arnold a "high 5′ on take off. I know it cost me a few seconds, but was worth it. I train using UMP, Mass Aminos, Ultra 40, Super Pak, Muscle Provider, Lean Out and 7 Keto. For my workouts, I take Muscle Synergy and Uplift. What a great pump I get out of that. So I used the Lean Out and 7 Keto to diet down for my weigh-in. I brought a cocktail of Creatine Select, Glutamine Select and Up-Lift. Drank that, waited 20 mins and drank a UMP/Muscle Provider shake, ate a bagel with jelly, and a banana. Then I went for the bench. I got 15 clean reps. Then it was off to the races. I felt like I had plenty of energy for the run. I felt really good, I passed a lot of "younger" racers, probably not using Beverly Products, finishing in 24:10. As I approached the finish line, a spectator yelled out "Go Beverly , due to the Bevery Tee Shirt I was wearing. All in all, I want to thank Beverly for changing my life and helping me achieve my fitness goals.

Many passers by at the Arnold asked this question, and just last week a multiple store owner was thinking the same thing prior to his first order They all ask me the same question..."What do you say when clients ask you why your products are different than all of the other brands out there?  The answer begins first with the core values a company possesses. The products are merely a result of that integrity. A lot of times I don’t even talk about products, I sell the company. Here’s what I say...

1. From day one we vowed to never compromise on quality ingredients to make a larger profit while deceiving the end user. We practice integrity and keeping our promise of a high end product. This has allowed us to stay in business for 43 years and counting. No one who was in the bodybuilding supplement field when we started is still in business.
2. We have been very conservative with advertising the Beverly Brand. We realize that we can’t sell to everyone. We also know that advertising costs and either we’d have to increase the cost of the product or reduce the quality (no way!) We’d rather educate than advertise. (That’s why we publish the NNN you are reading.) This way we can assure that the buyer properly uses our product and ends up with the highest level of return or result.
3. Our distribution is direct from our warehouse. No middle man. This saves you, the end user money.
4. Our day to day operation center is very cost effective in comparison to other companies. Just ask someone who’s been here. They can’t believe it. We have low overhead and system after system to do everything as effectively as humanly possible.
5. Many have tried to copy our product over the years, but have fallen short due to funds and/or proper resources. Their end result is never the same as Beverly. Many are funded by investment companies and find that they cannot produce the same quality of product under their current cost and overhead structure. Therefore they cut corners on effective ingredients, consistency, and taste.
6. Premium ingredients are not a commodity. We have specs that must be met. When other labs solicit our business, they often say they cannot get the ingredients that we specified, but would we consider this; or some just come back with the answer -"No, we can’t make this product for you." It is cost effective for labs to dabble in middle of the road or "commodity  raw materials, that way pricing is easy to set and profits easier to make. But, "we can’t go for that".
7. Not all raw ingredients are the same.
8. Not all protein is the same.
9. Not all protein labs follow the same guidelines in mixing/blending. Their equipment is different. The better the equipment, the better the blend. Higher standards all the way around.
10. Our products deliver a higher level of protein than other companies. (Not in weight by grams necessarily but in concentration by grade level.) For example, MP is Beverly’s lowest mark up, while yielding the highest percentage of whey hydrolysate in a protein powder sold in the industry today.
11. Beverly protein is superior to others on the market based on:
  1. a. Digestion,
  2. b. Absorption
  3. c. Mixability
  4. d. Usability
  5. e. Fine powder mixture
  6. f. Not chalky in taste
  7. g. Assays that read 100% of label
  8. h. 100% money back guarantee
  9. i. Ingredients only purchased from reputable sources with a clean history.
  10. j. Added select aminos that increase the protein package

How very fitting to focus on integrity? I just finished Ayn Rand’s Fountainhead. I absolutely loved the book. Her "Atlas Shrugged  is just as satisfying. Both books center on the theme of "being the best you can be  and "if it’s to be, it’s up to me . I recommend both. The hero in Fountainhead was unwavering from the center line he created early on in his life. He went thru all kinds of bumps in the road and faced many challenges. I won’t give away the end, but he reminded me a lot of what you guys write of your contest experiences. The challenges you overcome –some sickness, some monetary, some family, some time issues, what ever they are, you always end up finishing the race and feeling proud of your accomplishments. That makes your skin thick and your resolve like solid steel.

The NKY 2009 was the best to date. The athletes were super and the audience was outstanding. I give a huge thanks to everyone that participated. Our new date for next year is tenetatively set for March 27, 2010. Contracts are being signed and the NPC sanction is forthcoming. I sure hope that if you had any stirrings of desire to compete this year and you let it pass by, that you rekindle that desire and set a personal goal to be with us next year on the 27th of March. If you are worried that you can’t get in shape or that you can’t go it alone, we have solutions for you. Workbooks, blueprints, articles, and all kinds of coaching contacts... we can hook you up! You are never alone. Uh oh, that sounds like Big Brother speaking.

Just wanted to let you know that you all put on an amazing show. It was so orgazined and you all made us feel really comfortable. Thanks! You made my first show a great experience.  - Tracey Moore

John Ruehlman has been in the iron game for nearly as long as Roger. He is lifetime drugfree and finished 2nd in the 1986 IFBB World’s Championship in Tokyo, Japan. You might say John’s seen it all as far as physique competitions throughout the U.S. and the entire world. Here’s what he wrote after attending this year’s Northern.

Hi Roger,
I hope that this finds all going well with you, Sandy, and Beverly International. This may be late in arriving, but I wanted to share some comments on the successful Northern KY contest.

It was a very impressive event. The hall in which the event was contested was really perfect. The seating was excellent. The only drawback I noticed is that because the stage was low and the floor of the hall flat, those who are vertically challenged sometimes are unable to see clearly. (I actually had words with a clown who insisted on taking photographs in the aisle--obstructing my view.) There was plenty of seating, though.

The lighting was balanced also. You do not see that in every hall: You must have really worked to get it to that level.

The prejudging was conducted in an extremely smooth manner. It was impressive to watch the competent judging panel that you assembled at work.

It was evident that the contest was very well organized and for that you are to be congratulated. Although you made it look easy, those of us who have been around recognize the effort involved.

Initially, I was afraid there may be too many events for one day. After watching the first class go through, it was clear that you had the running of a contest down to a science.

I was not backstage, but your team of expediters had to be on the ball to get everyone out on stage with such fluidity. Good work! The lobby had just enough vendors. Too many vendors make it too distracting at times.

Overall, the Northern demonstrated that you seem to be ready for conducting an NPC national contest--not just a qualifier. (ed note: we’re happy with the Northern just as it is and are not interested in hosting one of the NPC national events.)

It is important to note that the special edition of the No NonsenseNewsletter that was distributed at the event was really impressive. Anyone receiving that publication is set for contest preparation. They have no excuses: all relevant questions are answered. That alone was worth the price of admission.

Can you imagine a young guy coming to watch his first show, and receiving that book? He could go home and map out his path for training, diet, and supplementation--from beginner through advanced levels.

You have my best wishes for continued success in 2009. –John R.

Bikini was a new division this year at the NKY I want you to see what the winners looked like. They are perfect in my mind’s vision of a model bikini competitor. Here they are...

A huge, special thanks goes out to our emcee. I can’t think of anyone that is better at this job than Todd Jackson. He has stamina like the Eveready Energizer Bunny. He just keeps going and going ... Thanks a million Todd. His wife Michele is the official scorer for the Northern Kentucky.

Dear Sandy,
Just wanted to write in and let you know how I did at the USAPL Women’s Nationals held in Miami, FL a few weeks ago, February 14-15.

The USAPL is a drug tested (oversight from the USADA and WADA), single ply federation and an affiliate of the International Powerlifting Federation. I placed second in the Open 181 pound weight class with a 385.8 lb Squat; 203.9 lb Bench Press; 358.3 lb Deadlift; and 948 lb Total. I broke the Maryland State Squat and Total records (both were my own) and set three Personal Records.

Although I did not place first, I was invited to participate on the US Women’s Open World Team in New Delhi, India November 2-7, 2009. It is with great honor that I accepted this invitation.

I would like to thank you and those at Beverly International for your excellent products, service, and support. Beverly is a cornerstone within my training regime with the No Nonsense Blue Prints for Success as my guide to a successful eating and supplement plan. The supplements I used for my training cycle were: Ultimate Muscle Protein (Cookies and Cream), Muscle Provider (Vanilla), Glutamine Select, Lean Out, 7 Keto Muscle Lean, Energy Reserve, Mass Aminos, and Ultra 40. I followed Levels 1-3 of the Gaining Muscle While Losing Fat eating programs from the Blueprint with minor tweaks for my high volume workout days. I am always impressed with your customer service when I call. Thanks again!
Sincerely, Rebekah Lair

I came across a daily log you might want to try. Flogg Daily. floggdaily.blogspot.com . Two colors to choose from, black or white, very clean design, and the log pages and content is perfect for 3 months of contest prep! The only complaint is that there isn’t enough space to write in all of your Beverly supplements. I give it an A rating.

Another great idea...

Candace Stupek
Candace Stupek, an avid Beverly user, wanted to share the gifts of UMP she gave to her clients last Christmas! She has been recommending UMP for some time now. She loves the great taste and it is a perfect way to get her clients to up their protein intake.

She says every one of them becomes as big a fan of Beverly just like Candace.

I noticed this issue’s cover guy, Joe Daniels, drinking something PINK all weekend long as he helped us out at the Arnold Expo. My curiosity finally got the best of me and I asked what it was and he told me. Now here’s my afternoon pick me up at Beverly: I get my Blender Bottle, add 3 ice cubes, 2 scoops of Glutamine Select, one Crystal Light "On the Go  mix, fill cold water to the top, shake it and off to work I go. It is a routine now. I love it better than just drinking water, and it is much better for my immune system! Thanks Joe buddy.

Just in case you are getting ready for Mr. or Ms. Vacation...you might want to keep your eyes open on our new (contains 4 scientifically studied Carnitine analogs) product Quadracarn™. It will help you get that "beach body  in a hurry. If you have special events to share, please send them to sandyr@beverlyinternational.net. Be kind to others and use your mind. Always think ahead and consider the secondary outcome! Ta Ta for now.
