1998 was a year to remember.
Twenty years later I find myself writing a letter to my mom who passed away in May, 1998.
I miss you. So much has happened since you’ve been gone. Twenty years is a long time! I know you were concerned about my career choices and my future!! You will be happy to hear that the same year you left this world, Roger and I acquired that supplement company, Beverly International. You know the one that Roger advised me to use while training for that first contest I did? Well, it has been a dream come true. Jim and Carole, the previous owners, set it up for us in the Fall of 1998 to take over the company and move it here to Cold Spring. Roger and I still live in the same house and we operate the business about a mile up the road from our home. Since you guys owned your own business, I know you would be proud of what we’ve generated. We used to work like seven days a week and around the clock helping people get healthy, lean and fit. In the past few years, we’ve cut our hours back a bit. We have an adept team working for us, so they do a lot of the day to day operations, advising and attend to client support.
Jaye is 30 now, and has been wearing that jewelry you left for her. She must be feeling some spiritual connection. All of your good morale and work ethic lessons that you taught by example have been deeply ingrained. I am thankful for the foundation, putting others first, always being honest, taking care of my temple, not following the pack, and much more. All of this has served me in my development as a business owner, wife and mother. You were always looking for the fat loss ticket. I can say that if you were here today, you would have found it with Beverly. We both use the product every day and believe in it 100%. We are healthy and happy and continue to grow and develop into better humans every day. Look down on us when you can. I am usually looking up! :) Your daughter, Sandy
I ran into a childhood friend the other day at the store and Missy says, ’How did we turn into our Mothers?’ I thought, yea, it’s so strange but inevitable. ’Life gets kinda precious when there’s less of it to waste.’ Perfectly said by Bonnie Raitt. Each day is a gift. I am thankful for all of it. Past, present, and future. I believe in this’ It’s not what you leave for your children; it’s what you leave in them.
