Finding a long term plan
I had to cut my sleigh riding time with my kids short because I could no longer walk back up the hill. My kids were in their teens and I knew I wouldn’t have them home for much longer. Yet, I couldn’t enjoy the time I had left with them at home. I was too young to feel this old. I can recall the doctor telling me that I was too overweight to exercise. That there was a good chance I’d have a stroke. My blood pressure was a mess, my cholesterol, was a mess, I had acid reflux, and Tums were a daily food source.
I hadn’t always been overweight, my weight started to gradually increase during my 20’s and kept accumulating year after year. Then, on the eve of my 50’s, the guy in the mirror was not even a guy I recognized. I ordered P90x, and to the chagrin of my family, I did it for three months. The results were great. However, I thought one round and I was fixed. Six months later, I was bigger than when I started.
